Case-hardening steel round, square, and hexagonal bars

n

Rodacciai produces and supplies round, square, and hexagonal bars in low carbon case-hardening steels for a wide range of applications.

These types of steels are designed for the hardening of the surface layer after the case-hardening treatment. They are employed for the manufacture of mechanical elements such as gears, pins, bushings, motor shafts and other motion transmission parts. The pieces can be supplied rolled, annealed workable, globular annealed, normalized, quenched and tempered, to be verified case by case according to the different steel grades.

In detail, the range is divided into:

Non-alloy

They do not contain any particular alloying elements, except carbon. They are often water-tempered and are therefore suitable for the manufacture of small parts such as pins and bushings. Some of these steels are available with the addition of lead, which facilitates chip-removal.

Alloy
With alloying elements such as manganese, chromium, nickel, molybdenum based on the final application. For example, chromium tends to increase core hardness, while nickel improves toughness and impact resistance. As the number of alloying elements increases, so does temperability, thus making it possible to obtain core-transformed structures into larger and larger pieces. Some of these steels are available with the addition of lead, which makes them easier to machine by chip removal.
