As we reach the halfway point of 2023, we seize the chance to have a conversation with Piero Bartesaghi, one of the owners of Punto Inox Service, to discuss the recent developments in the stainless steel distribution sector. We will learn about the company's approach to overcoming the economic challenges of 2022 and explore its future projects.
What were the specific difficulties from an economic standpoint and what measures were taken to overcome them?
"In 2022, the economy faced various challenges due to rising raw material prices (a 12% increase in steel), high energy costs, and the resurgence of inflation, this time nearing the double digits. Despite the challenges, we at Punto Inox have been able to adapt and capitalize on opportunities. Managing the situation was complex as the price increases seemed never-ending, but thanks to constant monitoring, we were able to align our sourcing with market trends. Government support measures have undoubtedly helped mitigate the impact of rising energy costs."
What are Punto Inox's expectations for the future? What strategies does it plan to undertake to navigate these uncertain waters?
"For the future, we expect to maintain the positive trend of recent years, preserving the current revenue standard and expanding our customer base. We have several investments planned to improve service and enhance quality, including logistics solutions and advanced measurement tools. Our main goal is to provide stainless steel materials in all possible formats, consolidating our position in the market and establishing strong relationships with customers and suppliers."
