Back to profitability: a significant restructuring plan for KOMET Deutschland GmbH
On June 30, the Supervisory Board of KOMET Deutschland GmbH – part of the CERATIZIT Group – approved a restructuring plan aimed at bringing the precision tool manufacturer back on track.
As part of the plan, which was submitted by the Management Board, the KOMET plant in Stuttgart-Vaihingen will be closed by the end of 2021. Key areas of production at this site, such as design, development, PCD tools finishing, and metal 3D printing will be covered by the other corporate site in Besigheim. Other activities, instead, will be performed by the CERATIZIT site in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Poland. "Our aim is to focus even more on the needs of our customers. The pooling of competencies at individual sites helps us to develop better solutions and to react even faster to customer requirements", claims Thierry Wolter, Member of CERATIZIT’s Executive Board.
The restructuring plan will be carried out as socially responsible as possible. Indeed, the trainees at the Stuttgart-Vaihingen plant will be able to complete their apprenticeship at KOMET. Then, they will be integrated into the training department at CERATIZIT’s Besigheim facility.
