Sheet metal forming? Ask QP Mechanics

Sheet punching is one of the processes commonly employed to obtain semi-finished or finished parts. The cutting tools involved in this process are punches and dies. The operation is relatively simple, the punch moves downward and into the die. This causes the sheet metal underneath the punch to be sheared away from the surrounding material, thus obtaining the target shape.

Finished punched parts are manufactured by using punching machines. However, when it comes to special parts with bores, profiles, and peculiar shapes, further steps such as bending, coining, and deep drawing may be required. These operations are generally performed through more complex production lines.

QP Mechanics manufactures dies, punches, and accessories upon customer requests and in different sizes. Thanks to the estensive know-how in this field, the company can also suggest the best materials (steel, widia and other special alloys) for every application, and supply components of outstanding quality and precision.

Here are some examples:

- dies and die holders;
- punches, counter punches, punch holders, and pins;
- plates;
- presses;
- extractors and wedges.
