Sala Punzoni’s new offering of customized equipment and solutions

Sala Punzoni, a company specializing in the production of equipment for cold and hot forging, announces a significant expansion of its product range with the introduction of new custom solutions developed to meet increasingly complex and industry-specific application requirements.

Tailor-made equipment for every production requirement

Sala Punzoni’s offering is expanded with dies, punches, guide bushes, holders, cutting knives, and other customized components for horizontal (wire processing) and vertical (sheet metal) presses, as well as new solutions for fine blanking, plastic forming, die casting, and sintering. Interchangeable inserts and modular systems can also be developed to optimize maintenance cycles.

Each piece of equipment is designed according to operating conditions and the characteristics of the material to be processed. It includes:

• conventional high-speed steels (HSS) for high mechanical and thermal stresses;

• powder metallurgy high-speed steels (PM HSS) for complex geometries and extended production cycles;

• hard metal (tungsten carbide), available in various grades to ensure hardness and dimensional stability even under abrasive conditions;

• special alloys for high thermomechanical loads;

• technical ceramics for specific insulation, hardness, or chemical resistance requirements.

Available PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coatings include TiN, TiCN, TiAlN, AlCrN, CrN, and multilayer versions. The choice of coating is based on the combination of the material to be processed, deformation speed, and required tool life.

Advanced machining and dimensional precision

Production is carried out in-house with a machine fleet that includes 3- and 5-axis CNC machining centers, automatic lathes, surface and profile grinders, as well as wire and sinker EDM systems. These technologies allow for the manufacturing of components with complex geometries, including non-circular shapes and minimum radii below 0.1 mm, as well as internal threads with customized profiles. It is also possible to achieve profiles with extremely tight dimensional tolerances and, upon request, surfaces with controlled roughness down to Ra 0.1 µm.

Maintaining superior precision on complex shapes is especially valued in highly specialized sectors such as microcomponent forming or the production of inserts for multi-station systems.
