Hyperion Materials & Technologies to acquire Italy-based carbide product manufacturer

Hyperion Materials & Technologies has reached an agreement to acquire Sinter Sud S.p.A., an Italy-based manufacturer of cemented carbide products.

Established in 1974 and headquartered in Sant'Agata de' Goti, (Benevento, Italy), Sinter Sud specializes in the manufacture of a wide range of carbide rods, bars, burr blanks, and other products in standard and customized offerings used for making metal cutting, woodworking and mining tools.

The transaction, which closes later in the year following customary regulatory approvals and the completion of closing conditions, will further complement the current offering from Hyperion and AFC, expanding their position as a full-service global provider in the tool-making industry.

Key business leaders at Sinter Sud will remain in place and report into the Hyperion organization.
