Made in Steel 2025 is sold out. The 11th edition of the international Conference & Exhibition dedicated to the steel supply chain, designed and organised by siderweb – La community dell’acciaio – has smashed its previous record: the net exhibition area will exceed 18 thousand square meters. This milestone reflects the strong confidence of the international steel industry and marks a new record for the event, which has expanded its exhibition space by 20% compared to 2023, the most successful edition to date.

All key performance indicators are showing positive trends compared to previous editions. Preliminary data indicate a 6.5% increase in the number of exhibitors compared to 2023, with 31% of them coming from abroad, up from 25% in the last edition. All major global and Italian steel groups will be attending.

Held every two years, the event attracts hundreds of exhibitors from Italy and worldwide. The 2025 edition will take place in Halls 22 and 24 at fieramilano Rho (Milan), covering a total area of over 35,000 square meters. This year’s theme is “The Beauty of Steel.”

Paolo Morandi, CEO of Made in Steel and siderweb, stated: “Made in Steel 2025 will be an important moment of meeting and confrontation for the world of steel. We are living in a very complex context, which is why the 2025 Conference & Exhibition organized by siderweb takes on even greater importance. Through the rich program of conferences, we will delve into all the hot topics of the steel sector, both Italian and European.”

THE BUSINESS - Between January and November 2024, Italy produced 18.81 million tons of steel, a 4.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2023 (source: Federacciai, latest available data). In the European Union, steel output between January and October reached 109.3 million tonnes, up 2.1% year-on-year, according to the World Steel Association. Germany, the EU’s leading producer, recorded 31.6 million tonnes, up 5% over the first 10 months of the year.

On the pricing side, in November, the siderweb Scrap Index—tracking trends in carbon steel scrap on the Italian market—rose by 2%. The Carbon Steel Index, which reflects finished carbon steel product prices, increased by 0.9%. Meanwhile, the Stainless Steel Index, which tracks finished stainless steel products (both long and flat), saw a slight decline of 0.1% from late October to late November.

The industry continues to grapple with weak downstream demand and intense competition at the distribution level. Prices have remained largely stable or have experienced minor declines, with occasional increases not always supported by the market.

In this context, operators are looking at 2025 with cautious optimism, expecting an improved outlook from the second and third quarters. In the meantime, the main forecasts predict a slight increase in steel demand.
