Spring machine manufacturer OMD shares its story on Now & Then

Telling the story of the major companies in their reference sector, this is what inspired the creation of the Now & Then column. In this 7h installment, we will discover the past and evolution of the spring machine manufacturer OMD (Officina Meccanica Domaso).

Though located in Italy, OMD is actually of swiss origins; it was established in 1948 when Eng. Emil Kunz and his son Hans decided to move across the border. The company they created would grow over the years to become an established and internationally recognized leader in the industry. In today's video, Gabriella Kunz, Hans' daughter, shares the company's backstory since the very first lead.

Quality and innovation have always been OMD’s distinctive traits since its very first project, an innovative 9 mm spring coiler that lasted over fifty years and could wind the spring from both right and left at the same time. Eng. Kunz was the first to implement this innovative technology in this type of machine.

Giulia Motti, representing the fourth generation of family management, concludes the video with an overview of the company's product range and future prospects under the banner of that spirit of research and innovation that has always set OMD apart from the beginning.
