Stainless steel production heading towards the record
The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) recently released the figures related to the stainless steel melt shop production in the first three months of 2017. The data are more than positive and indicate an increase in production of 14.5% year–on–year, equivalent to 11.8 million metric tons.
Also MEPS experts foresee the global crude stainless steel production to reach a new record in 2017. There is even talk of 48.5 million tonnes, about 6% more than the previous high figure set last year.
More precisely, China will represent around 55 percent of the world production with an expected outturn of almost 27 million tonnes, 8 percent more than in 2016. Also Taiwan, South Korea and Japan will continue their growth with a forecasted output of respectively +7%, +3,5% and +3%. Positive predictions also for USA (+3%) and Europe (+2%).
