What to expect from wire & Tube 2022
A press conference was held in Milan on April 27 to present the wire & Tube exhibition duo, the world reference events for wire and tube production and processing.
As you may know, the shows were originally slated for 2020, two years after the successful 2018 editions. However, overwhelmed by the various waves of Covid-19, they had been first postponed to December of the same year and then to May 2022. Finally, it was announced that they would be rescheduled to the end of June 2022, more precisely from June 20 to 24, partially in conjunction with the Metav show.
"We have done a great job and achieved excellent results so far," commented Armando Honegger of the homonymous company, representative of Messe Düsseldorf in Italy for years. "We have received a high number of applications, which bodes well for the success of the two events."
As confirmed by Friedrich-Georg Kehrer, Global Portfolio Director for the two trade shows at Messe Düsseldorf, companies are looking forward to a fresh start, "Exhibitors are excited about finally getting together in presence. The figures are very good: for wire, we achieved an exhibition area of 54 thousand net sqm, with a 17% reduction compared to the previous edition; as for the Tube, we are at 40 thousand net sqm, - 20% compared to 2018. The size of the individual stands has not changed much, and companies will still bring their machinery to the 13 halls present, which has always been a key asset of our two fairs."
The covered production range will also remain the same. "Back in 2020," Kehrer commented, "we were already planning to bring finished wire products such as springs and fasteners to Düsseldorf, and our plans for the 2022 edition haven't changed."
Sustainability and CO2 reduction will also be hot topics for wire and Tube exhibitors, who - in Kehrer's words - will face them with the assumption that they are the solution and not the problem.
The words of the speakers at the press conference are filled with positivity. "An entrepreneur is an optimist by nature," confirms Ferruccio Bellina of Acimaf, the association of Italian wire machinery manufacturers and among the promoters of the wire fair for years.
Will wire & Tube attract fewer visitors from certain countries because of the war? "Those walking through the halls in Düsseldorf will be quality visitors with real interest. If a company doesn't exhibit this year, its share of potential customers will be drawn to its competitors."
It's worth noting that there are currently no restrictions on fairgrounds. If no changes are made, the use of face masks will not be mandatory, nor will there be any limitation regarding the number of people who can attend the show simultaneously.
