DS / 3S Series with manual centering for each layer

With over 30 years of experience in extrusion head production, Eurotek Srl offers thermoplastic extrusion heads for double layer applications (DS model) through sheathing and filling, and triple layer applications (3S model) through sheathing, filling, and stripe/skin. Single-layer mode is also possible for insulation, filling, or sheathing.

The DS/3S series is designed to work with wire diameters up to 160 mm in mono-extrusion for single layer and double layer, co-extrusion for single layer with stripe or skin, and triple layer for double layer with stripe or skin.

The DS/3S series models operate with manual centering from the front of the head using adjusting screws (outer layer) and allow centering for each layer. It is also possible to request double centering from both the front and rear of the head via a spherical movement of the tip holder (outer and inner layer).

Technical features

The die model of the DS/3S series is heated through band and cartridge electric heaters, and it features a thermoregulated zone to adjust the surface appearance of the cable being produced. Upon request, the inner distributor can also be thermoregulated.

The distance between the wire guide and the die is adjusted using the “gum space” model: the die moves axially from the front of the head using the adjusting ring, while the tip holder (sleeve) moves axially from the rear of the head.

The DS/3S extrusion heads can be used to process sheathing and fillers of the same compound (at nearly identical temperatures) or different compounds (with temperature differences exceeding 30°C): PVC, PE, LDPE, HDPE, LLDPE, PP, TPE, PUR/TPU, PVC FR, in addition to HFFR, PVC, and EPDM for fillers, and XLPE FR, HFFR, XL HFFR, Virgin XLPE (Sioplas-Visico) for the outer layer. This extrusion head stands out for its ability to also process high-viscosity compounds, in addition to standard materials.

The DS/3S extrusion heads are manufactured using top-quality stainless steel, subject to a special surface treatment that enhances material flow and resists wear. Upon request, a hardening coating treatment up to 2200 HV can be applied as needed. They can also be equipped with both standard and custom-made dies, made of high-quality steel, including: wire guides, compression and semi-compression dies, tube and semi-tube; they can also feature special dies for low-pressure, low-adherence applications, and other specific needs.
