Thermal transfer printing material

n

The thermal transfer printing is carried out by printers that use a carbon ribbon to permanently write texts, logos, bar codes on paper or plastic. The use of this type of printers offers great advantages in terms of reliability and strength adapting perfectly to industrial environments. The possibility of printing even a single label prevents useless wastes and makes the printing expenses extremely cost effective. Using the wide range of ribbons together with the multiple supports will result in high quality of label printing and reading. Thanks to the high resolution and definition of images, the thermal transfer printing is the most suitable technology to print bar codes and read them during the time.

The supports

According to the different use requirements, we offer several types of materials for a better printing. All the support materials combined with the right ribbon will give quality results.

    Coated: Coated paper
    Uncoated: Uncoated paper
    PE: Polyethylene
    PP: Polypropylene
    PET: Polyester
    PVC: Vinyl
    TNT: Non-woven fabric

Carbon Ribbon

The Ribbon structure consists of a Polyester film (PET). On one side, it has hot melt ink and on the other, a protective layer, called backcoating. The latter protects the printing head from abrasions caused by continuous contact with the film. The Ribbon must have the following properties: conductivity, heat resistance, mechanical and chemical resistance and printing uniformity. There are different types of ink, such as: Wax, Wax-Resin, Resin. The selection of Ribbon depends on the type of support that will be used and on the type of printers used, Flat / Near Edge. The different types of ink of the carbon ribbons can be grouped in 3 classes:

Wax:

    Economic solution
Suitable for coated and non coated paper
Good resistance to rubbing and scratches
Possibility to print the bar codes rotated at 90° C

Wax Resin:

All-purposes, from coated to synthetic paper
Resistance to high temperature (up to 100° C)
Good resistance to rubbing and scratches
    High speed of printing
Good quality of bar codes printing rotated at 90° C

Resin:

Suitable for synthetic materials (PE, PP, PET, etc.)
Resistance to high temperature (up to 250° C)
High resistance to rubbing and scratches
    High resistance to solvents
    High speed of printing
Excellent quality of bar codes printing rotated at 90° C
