Abrasion-resistant ceramic coatings

n

CrO2 coatings are more lasting and abrasion-resistant. For safety reasons, as CrO2 at the sublimation temperature makes hexavalent chrome, extremely toxic and carcinogenic, during the treatement, is replaced by Tentorio with a blend of inert oxide refractory "COSIDE", a bit harder but less thick than CrO2.

The basic blends of Al2O3 and TiO2 are used for textile machines components with good results, lower than CrO2 and "COSIDE".

Disadvantages: coatings are microporous, in presence of water or compounds the inner base can oxidize or change composition although the phenolic sealing.

AISI 316 or AISI 304 basis are adviced.
