Reheating and drying stations for ladles

n

Steelworks

GF-Elti, an Italy-based industrial corporation operating in more than 30 countries, designs and develops reheating and drying stations for ladles.

These plants are used in steelworks to dry and pre-heat ladles to temperatures suitable for the process (~ 1.050 ÷ 1.150 °C) before their use. Ladles are containers used to collect and transport melted metal tapped from electric furnaces and blast furnaces.

Equipped with a combustion and automation system, the plants can perform programmed reheating cycles according to pre-set time-temperature curves. The cycle can take place either horizontally or vertically. In the case of new or repaired refractory lining, the first drying must necessarily take place vertically, so that the bricks, cements, and refractory binders can dry and bond without collapsing.

GF-ELTI reheating and drying stations for ladles are typically complete with:
- a bearing structure supporting one or more burners;
- an insulated cover for closing the ladle;
- a fuel reduction and control unit;
- a combustion air generator (fan);
- handling devices, differentiated according to the various construction configurations;
- an electric board;
- auxiliary systems for the necessary automation.

All plants are designed and built in accordance with Industry 4.0 requirements. The use of the most modern and advanced modeling, simulation, automation, supervision, and process control techniques characterizing each project allows GF-ELTI to fully meet industry standards.
