GF-ELTI designs, manufactures, and installs walking beam furnaces for the reheating of semi-finished products such as billets, blooms, slabs, round items and ingots up to the temperature suitable for the rolling process (1,100° ÷ 1,250°C).

These are continuous conveyor furnaces equipped with a full-length active pit and regenerative burners placed both above and below the charge. The system can be equipped with either a front or side loading system, based on the plant layout, while the semi-finished products in the furnace advance at a distance from each other according to the "pilgrim step" technique.

The walking beam system, moved through position-controlled hydraulic or electro-mechanical servocontrols, makes it possible to reheat the charge on the way on four sides, ensuring a better temperature uniformity, but it requires important foundation works for the creation of the reheating pit and the installation of the handling kinematic mechanism.
The furnace can be automatically emptied for maintenance purposes.
