HCl fumeless and electrolytic H2SO4 pickling lines for steel wire
The inline chemical and electrochemical wire treatment is a specialty of Sirio Wire, including other treatments such as HCl fumeless pickling and H2SO4 electrolytic pickling, which can be applied in plating processing lines for plating, phosphating, or galvanizing.
Compared to traditional GRP, the polypropylene construction of the company’s fumeless pickling bath offers more design possibilities. A seal on the side walls of the bath continuously recycles water at the entrance and exit of the line, ensuring perfect sealing, even in case the cover should be slightly deformed. The side seal is also used for particularly quick and easy threading of the wire into the bath.
When it is time for maintenance and cleaning of the bath, the polypropylene cover is easily opened with a crane or forklift; to facilitate sludge removal, the bottom of the tank is sloped in the direction of the drain.
Electrolytic pickling in H2SO4 is an excellent and suitable alternative to HCl pickling, especially when space is an issue or for high-speed applications. In the case of a galvanizing line, it’s vital to check the rinsing sections that come directly after the pickling bath to avoid sulfuric acid pollution of the flux bath. Sirio Wire uses a special cascading high-pressure rinsing device to solve this problem.
Compared with the chemical process, the electrolytic process enables two or three times faster pickling baths. Sirio Wire electrolytic pickling ensures the wire doesn’t come into contact with anything. This is possible through the alternation of anodes and cathodes immersed in several separate working tanks.
