Drawn steel wire for cold forming - 1.8 to 42 mm
Completing SEBIR’s production range is the drawn steel wire for cold forming with diameters ranging from 1.8 to 42 mm, subject to accurate treatments to guarantee maximum durability and precision in processing.
Pickling
The pickling process, essential for removing iron oxides (mill scale) from the surface of the wire, is carried out through two methods:
- chemical, which dissolves iron oxides in acid;
- mechanical, which breaks the scale with rollers, reducing the equivalent CO2 emissions by 34.8 kg/ton.
Rough drawing - K
The rough drawing process, in which the wire section is drawn through one or more dies, allows for a cumulative reduction of the wire cross-sections by up to 90%. SEBIR has drawing machines that operate from 1.80 mm up to 42 mm, ensuring maximum precision in processing.
Globular annealing heat treatment - G
The globular annealing is a critical step in the manufacturing process, and SEBIR uses furnaces with green hydrogen technology to achieve a high degree of globularization with minimal processing times. Automatic temperature and atmosphere control systems ensure the process occurs with maximum strength homogeneity and without decarburization.
The following table illustrates the available transformation processes:
Thanks to the computer system used in SEBIR's plants, the traceability of each product is guaranteed, ensuring that the heat treatment is performed without mixtures.
