Fluidbed annealing furnaces

In the fluid bed annealing furnace the wire strands are passed horizontally through a Fluidized Bed of Cecan Sand particles. the fluidized particles totally surround the wires. The fluidizing movement creates ideal conditions for the rapid transfer of heat to the wire.

The Cecan Sand is fluidized by an air mixture distributed through special porous ceramic tiles in the bed of the furnace. The total volume of the air passed through the bed is retained in a corrugated heat resistant alloy retort with the volume and velocity of the air controlled to provide optimum fluidizatlon.

Mounted below the surface of the bed is a series of burner tubes to provide the energy required to heat the bed to its operational temperature.
Pilot burners mounted above the sand in the Fluid Bed are used to ignite the main burners.
Each pilot incorporates a flame detection device to provide the necessary flame safety system.

The Cecan Sand Bed is retained in a corrugated nickel chrome heat resistant alloy retort.
The Retort is mounted on to a base structure in mild steel into which the ceramic distribution tiles are mounted. The air is introduced through a manifold with multi-point connections to the underside of the ceramic tiles.
