Zinc wiping systems
In the hot dip galvanizing process the wires will normally exit the molten zinc either vertically (90°) or at an angle (typically 25°). As the wires exit the fumace the excess zinc is removed (wiped) to provide either a heavy coating of zinc or a very thin coating of zinc depending upon the flnal product.
There are five conventional wiping methods to achieve either heavy or thin coatings as follows:
a) Pad Wipes (commercial coating}
b) Charcoal Wipe (heavy coating)
c) Gas Gravel Wipe (heavy coating)
d) Nitrogen
e) Elertro Magnetic Wiping
