Lead quenching furnace

n

The lead quench furnace is designed to bring wire temperature from austenitizing (900° C) to the quench temperature (525° C) within the critical 3 - 5 seconds to ensure proper metallurgical structure within the wire (temperatures indicated are approximate only). A bath of molten lead located directly following the austenitizing furnace uses sinkers to drop the wires into the air tube cooled lead medium.
