A closer look at ABS departments: maintenance

Maintenance is what keeps ABS systems running and efficient each day. It also supports the installation, start-up, and revamping of the plants. Works are performed daily to constantly increase their reliability while fitting the budget. The teams, either assigned to individual departments or working transversally to the entire plant, are divided based on their mechanical, electrical, and automation skills.

Preventive actions such as overhauls and replacement of components are set up beforehand, while interventions such as repair or restoration are coordinated each time. Plant control rounds are instead managed on each shift.

The next challenge for ABS will be the implementation of a maintenance management upgrade that will allow greater control of KPIs/costs, simpler and faster scheduling of interventions, as well as the recording of dedicated hours and materials used.
