EUROFORGE 2024: ABS to forge the future of the industry

On October 22 and 23, Milan will host the EUROFORGE conFAIR 2024, a two-day conference dedicated to the forging industry. Among the highlights, two keynote speakers from ABS - Acciaierie Bertoli Safau, a prominent producer of special steels, will present on sustainability and innovation in steel production.

Tuesday, October 22, 11:30 AM: "Committed to Sustainability to Ensure Competitiveness: The ABS Plan for 2030" - by Alice Battistutti

In this first presentation, Alice Battistutti will outline the sustainability plan of Acciaierie Bertoli Safau (ABS). The company plans to invest €575 million by 2030, targeting three strategic areas: reducing CO2 emissions by 30%, enhancing circular economy practices, and improving supply chain sustainability. Noteworthy initiatives in this regard include the expansion of railway transportation and the 100% reuse of slag by-products. The ultimate goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Wednesday, October 23, 10:00 AM: "Sustainable Product and Process Innovation in the Steel Industry" - by Francesca Maurigh

Francesca Maurigh will focus on sustainable innovation within the steel industry, highlighting the critical challenges of decarbonization. The speech will address how both designers and manufacturers need to innovate production facilities and processes in order to achieve sustainability.This issue has become the central driver of innovation, aiming to minimize costs, reduce resource consumption, and lessen environmental impact across the entire production chain. Through its R&D hub, ABS Centre Métallurgique, the company is developing solutions based on three core principles: lightweight materials, renewable energy, and a circular economy approach.
