IGQ (Istituto Italiano di Garanzia della Qualità) is a leading certification body founded in 1985 with the endorsement of CNR. Operating as a non-profit association recognized by the Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy, IGQ was the first quality system certification body in Italy and the first to achieve accreditation by SINCERT (now ACCREDIA).
The organization specializes in certification services across multiple domains, including quality management systems, environmental management, occupational health and safety, energy management, and product certification. IGQ primarily serves key national industrial sectors, with particular focus on mechanical and metal industries, manufacturing and installation of machinery and equipment, industrial and civil constructions, engineering, professional services, wholesale trade, and information technology.
IGQ holds prestigious accreditations from both Accredia (Italian accreditation body) and ANAB (American accreditation body). The organization is a founding member of the CISQ Federation and part of the international IQNET network, which spans over 35 countries with more than 100 local organizations. This enables IGQ to provide internationally recognized certifications.
Beyond certification services, IGQ offers advanced training courses and actively participates in public initiatives to promote quality culture. The organization operates with a strong emphasis on independence, impartiality, and competence, employing qualified assessors who undergo continuous education and training. IGQ also serves as a verification body for Greenhouse Gases Emissions according to the European Directive 2003/87/EC, based on ISO 14065 accreditation.
The organization maintains a robust governance structure including a Governing Board, Scientific Committee, and specialized Certification Commissions, ensuring high standards of service delivery and impartial decision-making in all certification processes.
