General metal industry news
From ferrous to non-ferrous, all the international news from the metallurgical industry
Now and Then: the focus is on equipment for wire, cable and tube
1983 - A garage, a milling machine and a traditional lathe, a strong will and a firm determination; that’s how Cometo came into existence, but what happened during those 36 years up to 2019? How did a small company rise to the top and become a leader in manufacturing equipment for the wire, cable, rod and tube industry?
This is the precise purpose of the Now & Then column, delving deeper into the industrial past of renowned companies, to discover the reasons that led them to the international stage. After two wire-drawing companies (Scerelli, Mauri) and a sintered ceramics specialist (RTP Paganoni), we move to another scenario and meet the established wire straighteners manufacturer Cometo.
The formula of success of all these enterprises? Initiative, resourcefulness, luck – or all these factors together. Cometo started with a very low profile, but their continuous endeavor to develop innovative and original products and their constant research for the highest quality have rapidly been repaid.
The voice of Pietro Tocchetti, who founded Cometo together with his father Enrico, will be the guide of this fourth episode of Now & Then.
